Zach Stevens is a 2018 1B/RHP with a 6-2 220 lb. frame from Lexington, MA who attends Lexington High School. Extra-large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present strength proportioned throughout frame. Ran a 7.58 60-yard dash. Primary first baseman, athletic actions coming off the bag, will need to continue to refine footwork but pivots well on throws, fields the ball out front, quick transfer into a long and loose arm action, comes through the ball well and gets extended at release, ball comes out clean with accuracy and present strength. Also pitched, side step into delivery with simple mechanics, leg lift parallel to belt, works to an over the top arm slot and topped out at 82 mph with fastball, will continue to develop a consistent release point. Also showed an 11-5 curveball with nice shape and short depth, maintains arm speed and action well on pitch. Righthanded hitter, begins swing with a leg lift trigger and loads hands back. Bat is a consistently loud tool with hard contact both in batting practice and games. Quick hands and is able to create nice separation out front, stays through the ball and shows easy bat speed through the zone. Occasionally gets to front side and off balance but stills stays short and direct to the ball, simple swing and able to repeat it, gets extended out front and can drive the ball to all parts of the field. Very good student. Named to Northeast Top-Top Prospect List.
