Luke Honeycutt is a 2018 RHP/1B with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from Calhoun, LA who attends West Ouachita HS. Sturdy, athletic built with present strength throughout body. Primary righthanded pitcher, good body control with full delivery, leg lift just above the belt. Compact arm-action, still maintains and looseness and works well to a high 3/4's arm slot. Good deception and downhill plane, fastball up to 86 mph, gets on hitters quickly. Fastball has heavy, sinking life, is tough for hitters to lift, still refining consistent command. Solid feel for short slider, offering almost cut like in times, pitch comes from same plane and shows late slice off of the barrel. Mixes in a rare changeup. Also worked out in the infield, solid actions and hands, could be more aggressive to ball at times. Left handed hitter, open stance with leg lift trigger. Quality bat speed and strength, has line-drive swing plane with some natural lift, showed solid feel for barrel and flashes potential with the bat. Named to the National Underclass South Showcase Top Prospect List. Very good student.
