Ross Chandler is a 2017 RHP/1B, 3B with a 5-11 190 lb. frame from Guntersville, AL who attends Guntersville. Medium frame with strong, well-built body with strength throughout. Ran 60 yard dash in 8.06 seconds. Primary pitcher, short rocker step back into compact delivery with high leg kick, coils at balance point and gathers well before driving downhill with authority from strong lower half. Throws from three quarters arm slot and creates good plane to the plate, fastball worked 78-83 MPH with good arm side run through the zone. Has deception and generates extension out front. Showed curveball with sweeping shape and plenty of depth, good pitch away to right-handed hitters. Very good feel for his changeup, maintains good arm speed on the pitch and generates fading life. On the whole did a very good job of mixing pitches and keeping hitters off balance. Shows good strength when hitting as well, shifts weight well into contact and generates hip torque. Solid bat speed with lofted plane, did a very good job of driving the ball into the air with authority when timed up properly. Worked out defensively in the infield, fields cleanly out front with two hands and takes good steps into throwing mechanics. Threw accurately across the diamond from multiple arm slots with velocity clocked up to 76 MPH. Excellent student.
