Kade Vander Molen is a 2018 SS/3B with a 6-1 182 lb. frame from Pella, IA who attends Pella Christian. Medium frame with an athletic, strong build. Projects to support additional size and strength. Ran a 6.99 sixty-yard dash. Primary shortstop showing smooth paced, deliberate footwork while surrounding the baseball. Clean glove actions while working through the baseball and released from a high energy three-quarters arm slot. Topped at 89 miles per hour to the bag with good carry and developing accuracy. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance a large leg lift trigger. Swung with extreme into while lower half worked to contact with rotational actions. Barrel worked through the zone on an uphill plane through extension. Primarily looked to created separation and drive the ball through the gaps. Also pitched showing a simple side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays tall and balanced on back side at gather prior, finish in line with the plate and carries momentum to target. Creates slight hook at take back and released from a compact three-quarters arm slot. Fastball produced good downward angle to the plate with good life topping at 87 miles per hour. Flashed a very tight 12/6 curveball with late depth when staying on top of offering at release. Aggressively attacked the strike zone early in counts with fastball offering. Developing feel to each edge of the plate, but was able to induce weak contact while staying off barrels. Good student. Named to the 2017 Spring Top Prospect Showcase-Top Prospect List.
