Trent Grantham is a 2018 1B/RHP with a 6-4 218 lb. frame from Midland, GA who attends Columbus. XL frame with excellent strength throughout body; still projects well moving forward. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.75 seconds. Sets up to hit from wide-based stance, high hand set, toe tap timing mechanism. Shifts well into contact with lower half, smooth stroke with good bat speed and extension through contact, generates lots of power in swing and projects for even more down the line. Good feet and hands at 1st base, pivots well and makes accurate throws, topped at 80 MPH. Pitched as well, stands tall on backside in delivery, gets online and downhill with authority, fastball worked 83-85 MPH and stayed down in the zone with good plane and solid arm side life. Overtop arm slot generates lots of angle. Showed curveball with big-breaking 12/6 shape and good depth. Flashed changeup with solid feel, keeps velocities separated and replicates arm speed. Threw strikes with all three pitches. Named to 2016 Sunshine Southeast Showcase Top Prospect List. Good student.
