Hayden Kerns is a 2017 SS/RHP with a 6-2 175 lb. frame from Houston, TX who attends Memorial HS. Kerns has a medium sized frame with a long lanky projectable build. He has good actions on the infield and moves to the baseball well. He has some feel defensively and has good hands and a clean release. Kerns showed some arm strength up to 83 MPH with some carry on it. At the plate he starts with a slightly open stancw with a wide base. He uses a foot lift trigger to start his swing and swings on a line drive path. Kerns uses a hand load and he has some bat speed. He made middle of the field contact with some extension. Kerns pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a long arm action. He has a directional delivery and has some arm speed. Kerns gets some sink on his fastball and he works quick. He throws an 11/5 curveball with some shape and spin to it and also throws a change up with some run on it. Very good student.
