Hunter Whinery is a 2019 3B/RHP with a 5-11 185 lb. frame from Ely, IA who attends Prairie. Medium frame with broad shoulders and an athletic build. Projects for additional strength while maintaining athleticism. Ran a 7.09 sixty-yard dash. Primary third baseman with smooth paced footwork while surrounding the baseball. Funnels from a slightly deeper position and worked through transition with fluid exchanges. Released from a compact three-quarters arm slot producing accurate carry to the bag, topped at 78 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a spread, even stance and compact hand set. Direct, inside path to baseball with an uphill plane through extension. Showed present bat speed with strength at contact while employing a gap to gap approach. Generated hard, loud contact when matching pitch plane that producing good carry to each gap. Also pitched utilizing a smooth paced side step delivery. Stays balanced at gather and worked to the plate with tall and fall actions. Medium arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters slot. Fastball flashed some jump out of hand with occasional run in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 78 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with loose spin and some depth. Also flashed a straight changeup in the upper 60's that had some wiggle to arm side. Primarily looked to attack the strike zone and showed developing feel to work to each edge of the plate.
