Jacob Cook is a 2018 1B/3B, RHP, OF with a 6-0 210 lb. frame from Dallas, GA who attends East Paulding High School. Large, broad shouldered build with present strength proportioned throughout. Primary first baseman, fields the ball out front with two hands, shows athleticism to actions and nice footwork coming off the bag and on pivots, medium arm action through the back, gets on top of throws and shows carry across the diamond. Also pitched, short leg lift just below belt, hip turn at top of delivery and comes through it well, lands slightly closed and works across body at release. Compact arm action through the back working to a three-quarters arm slot with a tight release point, able to create cut action to fastball, effort at release, topped out at 74 mph. Shows sweeping life to curveball with 10-4 shape, drops release point at times on the pitch. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow in the box, uses a high leg lift trigger for timing at start. Starts swing with a high leg lift trigger for timing, gets the barrel through the zone well and shows sound bat speed towards the point of contact. Quick hands, able to incorporate physical strength and shows jump off the barrel while working to all fields, line drive approach. Shows nice strength in swing and can continue to unlock more with additional lower half. Excellent student.
