Nick Sherman is a 2017 SS/3B, RHP with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from San Ramon, CA who attends California. Medium frame, athletic build with broad shoulders, some room to fill out. Primary shortstop, stays low and moves well to the ball. Fields out in front, shows some quickness and agility to either side, uses full arm-action and gets on top of throws. Solid arm strength with good carry out of the hand, up to 80 mph across the diamond in defensive drills. Right handed hitter, high hands set with upright, tall stance. Deep hand position, small leg lift trigger, long and fluid swing. Shows feel for barrel with line-drive swing plane, works best to the middle of the field, can collapse backside occasionally. Solid, balanced overall skill set. Also pitched, slow build up out of the windup, slight pause at height of leg lift, picks up momentum and drives down rubber. Works to high 3/4's arm slot, loose arm-action with slight wrap backside. Fastball up to 77 mph, needs to be down in zone with offering consistently. Also flashed feel for curveball with 11/5 shape and rare changeup. Very good student.
