2004 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase
Adam Johnson is a 2004 right handed pitcher from Minnesota who was at the showcase looking for a spot to pitch in college this coming spring. We definitely think he can contribute right away at any number of Midwestern colleges, and there were some college coaches who watched him pitch who agreed with us. Johnson has a present strong 6'2", 215 lb. frame. He touched 86 mph on his fastball and was consistently around 84 mph. His out pitch was a nasty curveball in the 72-75 mph range that had sharp, hard 11/5 biting action. It’s a very good college breaking ball right now that’s going to get hitter’s out, and Johnson showed the ability to put it in the strike zone consistently. We’re confident that Johnson is going to get his opportunity and he may have already received it from one of the coaches who was at the ball park and saw him. Adam is a solid student.
