David Howarth is a 2019 C/1B, 3B with a 6-0 205 lb. frame from Wall, NJ who attends Wall. Large frame with broad shoulders and present strength. Primary catcher with a low, athletic stance while setting up to receive. Showed athletic lower half actions while working out of crouch and gaining ground. Clean, quick glove to hand exchanges while working through transition and released from a compact three-quarters arm slot. Created very accurate throws to the bag with solid carry topping at 74 miles per hour, best workout pop time of 1.99. Left handed hitter with an upright, open stance and high back elbow set. Shifts into contact well with linear lower half actions. Loose, fluid hand path to contact with a naturally lifted barrel plane through extension. Primarily worked between the gaps, but showed the bat speed and strength to turn the barrel and work to pull side with authority. Ball jumped off barrel well when squared generating solid backspin and carry. Very good student. Named to the 2017 Sunshine Northeast Showcase Top Prospect List.
