Ryan Windom is a 2019 SS/RHP with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Charleston, SC who attends Academic Magnet HS. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional strength while maintaining athleticism. Ran a 6.81 sixty-yard dash. Primary shortstop with smooth, sound footwork while ranging for and surrounding the baseball. Funnels cleanly out front and works through exchange quickly. Moves to the baseball well while ranging and showed the ability to throw with accuracy while on the run, topped at 78 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and simple front side trigger. Showed good hip torque at contact with rotational lower half actions. Stays balanced and behind contact with a compact, direct hand path. Barrel came through the zone on a line drive plane with present bat speed. Consistently worked to all fields creating hard line drive contact throughout batting practice. Also pitched utilizing a small rock step to leg lift delivery. Stays tall on back side at gather and works to the plate with tall and fall actions. Loose arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters arm slot. Showed good feel for a fastball offering that jumped out of hand with running action in the upper 70's, topped at 80 miles per hour. Showed developing feel for a curveball offering that had 11/5 shape with loose spin and occasional depth. Primarily looked to attack the strike zone and challenge hitters. Named to the 2017 National Academic Showcase Top Prospect List. Outstanding student.
