Joseph Pence is a 2020 OF/RHP with a 5-10 172 lb. frame from Mount Laurel, NJ who attends Lenape High School. Medium, aathletic frame with broad shoulders and nice present strength proportioned well throughout. Ran a 5.13 40-yard dash. Primary outfielder, stays low moving towards the ball and fields out front, incorporates a crow hop to generate momentum, quick arm and repeats actions well, gets over front side and works on top of the ball, shows arm strength and accuracy on throws. Also pitched, short step moving into belt high leg lift; short and compact arm action working to a high three-quarters release point. Good tempo down the mound, fastball topped out at 81 mph with running life to arm side; nice changeup with fading life at 71 mph, tends to slow arm action on curveball but shows good downward action. Righthanded hitter, begins with an even stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Stays short to the ball with bat path and shows strength in hands, stays inside the baseball and can continue to create more extension out front. Nice bat speed with leverage out front at contact, ball jumps when squared to the middle and pull side parts of the field but can work all fields. Nice offensive tools to follow. Named to Northeast Indoor Top Prospect List. Excellent student.
