Zachary Abbott is a 2021 RHP/1B with a 5-10 205 lb. frame from Gloucester, MA who attends Gloucester. Recorded a 7.79 second sixty-yard dash time. Medium frame with strong, durable build and present strength. Primary right-handed pitcher that worked exclusively from the stretch, using drop and drive lower half mechanics and a shorter stride out to foot strike. Works from a higher three-quarters arm slot with downhill plane and the ability to command both sides of the plate. Consistent strike thrower that worked in the 78-80 mile per hour range for the duration of his outing, topping out at 81 mph with life through the zone. Held velocity well, repeating his mechanics well and flashing the potential for a true swing-and-miss secondary offering. Curveball showed 11-5 shape with late depth, generating a few empty swings and awkward takes. Secondary first basemen with a developing defensive skill set, clean footwork around the bag and a slightly higher funnel to field out in front. Recorded throws up to 75 mph across the diamond in drills. Right-handed hitter that hits from an even base with a high hand set, high back elbow and big leg lift trigger. Intent based swing with rotational lower half mechanics and developing feel for his barrel. Middle-to pull approach with best impact to the pull-side when he is able to get extension out in front. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and has some remaining upside on the mound. Good Student.
