Tyler Magin is a 2019 RHP/OF with a 6-1 165 lb. frame from Phoenix, AZ who attends Desert Vista. Large frame with a lean build. Frame projects to support additional strength. Ran a 7.30 sixty-yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher with a smooth paced side step delivery. Stays tall on back side at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive lower half actions. Released from a loose, clean three-quarters arm slot. Fastball jumped out of hand well producing heavy sink with running action to arm side in the mid to upper 80's, topped at 88 miles per hour. Maintains arm speed with a curveball offering that flashed sharp 10/5 shape with the mid 60's. Also changed speed and matched arm slot with a fading changeup in the upper 70's. Showed very polished actions on the mound with the ability to command both the inner and outer half of the plate. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing smooth, deliberate footwork with clean glove actions while working through the baseball. Longer arm circle at separation and released from a lower arm slot topping at 90 miles per hour. Throws produced solid carry to the bag with accuracy. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and reaching front side trigger. Hands load to a deep position and work to contact on a loose, uphill path. Swung with intent and looked to drive the ball to the middle of the field and pull side gap. Flashed solid strength at contact and produced good carry off the barrel when squared. Named to the 2017 West Academic Showcase Top Prospect List. Very good student as well.
