Alex Escanilla is a 2022 MIF with a 5-1 105 lb. frame from Olney, MD who attends Sherwood. Young square shouldered frame with lean and projectable build, has room to fill throughout. Ran an 8.25 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, does a nice job of getting low behind the ball, fields it out front with two hands and shows quickness to actions, quickness to exchange, works into a compact arm actions on throws across and arm strength will continue to develop, shows ability to drop slot on throws. Righthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set pulled back at start; utilizes a high leg lift trigger for timing at the plate. Swings with intent and shows a long swing path through the zone, contact oriented approach. Can cover the outer half pitch, worked to all fields, bat speed will continue to develop. Very good student.
