Chance Almonte is a 2017 SS with a 5-11 150 lb. frame from Minoa, NY who attends South Hadley. Medium, athletic build with a lean and projectable build with room to fill out with additional strength. Solid runner, posted a 6.92 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, moves well on feet with light actions, good range and fields the ball out front. Hands work, quick release with short, lower slot arm action. Arm strength will continue to develop. Right-handed hitter, starts with an upright stance and a high hand set away from his body. Open stance, keeps hands close to body through swing while showing a feel for the barrel. Quick bat with nice balance in swing, line drive swing plane and contact with ability to hit to all fields. Very good student.
