2020 Mid-Atlantic Indoor Showcase (Saturday)
Joe Skapinetz is a 2021 RHP/3B with a 6-4 215 lb. frame from Far Hills, NJ who attends Gill St Bernard's. Large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present strength proportioned throughout. Ran a 7.72 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, works exclusively out of the stretch, high leg lift and drives down the mound well. Quick and compact arm action through the back working to a three-quarters release point; fastball comes out well with sinking life up to 86 mph, filled the zone and worked down well. Curveball shows 12-6 shape with nice shape, maintains arm speed well at release up to 70 mph. Easy release on fastball and projects with added physical strength. Tends to slow arm action on changeup but throws for strikes up to 75 mph. Nice upside on the mound and able to miss bats at present. Light actions with footwork at first base, fields the ball out front, shows accuracy on throws and the ability to throw from multiple release points. Lefthanded hitter, uses length of levers well to creates leverage with swing path, physical strength plays at point of contact with impact. Creates torque and nice extension out front, comfort working to his pull side. Good student. Named to the Mid-Atlantic Indoor Top Prospect List.
