Gunnar Henderson is a 2019 SS/RHP with a 6-3 195 lb. frame from Selma, AL who attends John T Morgan Academy. Big and tall athletic build, stands out physically, lots of room to get stronger. Left handed hitter, hits from a wide base, gets coiled back in his load and uses his strong hips well to generated bat speed, hands work well in his swing, best when he's turning the barrel over and driving the ball, has present hitting tools that have a chance to really keep growing. 6.87 runner, deceptively athletic defensive actions in the middle of the infield, has fluid and quick feet and puts himself in a position to field the ball cleanly with soft hands, plenty of arm strength, makes strong accurate throws, has a chance to stay at shortstop despite his size. Also pitched, works from the stretch with a slow paced leg raise delivery, 3/4's arm slot, throws strikes with an upper 80's fastball, soft short slider. Very interesting all around player who has always performed. Very good student, verbal commitment to Auburn. Selected to play in the 2018 Perfect Game All American Classic.
