Joshua Goda is a 2017 C/RHP with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Mission Viejo, CA who attends Laguna Hills HS. Large, athletic frame with long limbs and nice present strength throughout frame. Ran a 7.78 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, pops out of the crouch well and gains ground with lower half, low set behind the plate, quick arm action and ball comes out very clean, big arm strength with carry, 82 mph with 1.93 pop time, gets on top of throws. Also pitched, works exclusively out of stretch, short and compact delivery, remains tall on backside, works to a high three-quarter arm slot with a quick and compact arm action. Fastball topped out at 84 mph, creates good downhill plane and pounds bottom of zone. Has ability to work both sides of plate and will challenge inner half. Curveball shows 12-6 sharp with late break and sharp bite. Right-handed hitter, starts with a slightly open stance and uses a knee glide trigger. Line drive swing plane, remains balanced and shows a consistent stroke with no wasted movement, gets the barrel to the ball and creates consistent line drive contact to pull side. Get extended out front, sound results off barrel when on time. Named to West Coast Underclass Top Prospect List. Very good student.
