Sam Crawford is a 2017 C/1B with a 5-10 180 lb. frame from Marshfield, MA who attends Marshfield. Medium frame with solid build, good strength throughout body with good remaining physical projection. Ran a 7.78 60 yard dash time. Hits from tall, upright stance with high back elbow, crouches down and back into load, shows good rhythmic hitting mechanics, swing has some smoothness and fluidity to it, showed solid natural loft with strength and ability to drive the baseball into the air. Good lower half strength generates additional strength and jump off the barrel. Gap power at present with good overall power projection in addition to solid hitting tools. Worked out defensively behind the plate at the catcher position. Showed fundamentally solid, deliberate footwork; stands up some when throwing down to 2B, consistently very accurate to bag, popped as low as 2.25 seconds and threw 67 MPH. Good student.
