Ryan Moritz is a 2017 SS/RHP, 3B with a 6-0 175 lb. frame from Omaha, NE who attends V.J. And Angela Skutt Catholic. Good frame with build, plus physical projection. Even stance with a large leg kick trigger. Linear lower half actions to contact. Loads top half to a strong position with slight coil. Shows some present bat speed with consistent barrel contact and pop. Short hand and barrel path to contact. Showed pull side contact in BP. Flashed ability to stay on ball to opposite field in game situations producing quality back spin into the gap. Solid arm strength and a smooth 3/4 arm slot from the infield, topped at 81 mph across. Surrounds baseball well and shows range to both sides. Athletic actions that work well for a MIF. Also pitched showing a shorter arm swing from a 3/4 slot. Generates downhill plane that creates some sinking action on fastball, showed some cutting action when in lower band of velo. Fastball ranged from 72-77 mph, topped at 79 mph. Curveball has slurve shape and depth with ability to miss bats. Tends to bounce off speed pitch, very effective when located at the knees. Projects as a solid positional prospect. Good student as well.
