Alejandro Vargas is a 2016 1B/LHP with a 6-0 195 lb. frame from Hesperia, CA who attends Oak Hills HS. Large frame with strong, physical build. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.49 seconds. Hits with excellent strength in swing, shows willingness and ability to hit the ball squarely the opposite way with authority. Inside out swing path for the most part. Fires hips well and generates torque, shows solid bat speed and overall strength. Has serious intent in swing, looks to punish the baseball. Stays committed to the middle of the field with line drive approach. Worked out defensively at 1st base, shows smoothness in hands when fielding, showed quick release with accuracy to both 2B and 3B. Pitched as well, arm works well to mid three quarters slot, closed landing with some crossfire in delivery. FB worked 70-73 and touched 75, threw strikes consistently with fastball. Good student.
