Trevor Higgs is a 2017 C/RHP with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Douglasville, GA who attends South Paulding High School. Medium build and frame, athleticism, and rom to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Posted a 7.13 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary catcher, showed athletic actions behind the plate, received well, clean transfer, and a very strong arm up to 80 mph. Posted a workout pop time of 2.00. At the plate, started with an open stance, high hand set, high back elbow, and a quick leg lift timing mechanism. Compact swing to the ball with strength at the point of contact. Worked with an all fields approach and showed good hand speed. Ability to generate carry off the barrel with a line drive swing plane. Also pitched, started with a short rocker step, high leg lift, tall through backside, short stride to the plate, short arm action, and threw from a high, tight three quarter arm slot. Fastball showed heavy action to the lower third of the zone at 81-85/86 mph. Filled the zone effectively with fastball and worked off of it. Slider showed 9-4 shape on the mound with sweeping action and replicated arm speed at 76 mph. Raised slot slightly for curveball with 9/5 shape and better angle. Mixed pitches very well and kept hitters off balance. Named to Top Prospect List.
