David Schlomovits is a 2018 LHP/UT with a 5-10 165 lb. frame from Irvine, CA who attends University HS. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Frame projects for additional size with strength while maintaining athleticism. Ran a 7.37 sixty yard dash. Primary left handed pitcher with simple side step, leg lift delivery. Stays tall on back side at gather and utilizes lower half while while driving to the plate. Lands at a slightly closed position at release causing some crossfire arm action. Created a long arm circle back at separation and releases from a three-quarters slot. Created solid downward plane with fastball offering with occasional run and sink, topped at 80 mph. Curvball had 1/7 shape with softer spin and good depth. Also flashed a changeup with occasional fading action in the low 70's. Slider has sharp depth and late bite when working to glove side. Tends to start slider offering to arm side and break back over the plate. Consistently filled the zone with the ability to spot up on the edges at times. Effectively kept hitter off balance inducing soft contact. Left handed hitter with a balanced, open stance. Generated a naturally lifted swing plane through extension with slight shoulder tilt at contact. Flashed some strength that provided good jump to the pull side gap when squared. Shows present bat speed through the zone that resulted in consistent line drive contact with solid carry to the middle of the field as well. Tools will continue to develop with physical maturity and mechanical refinements. Good student as well.
