Owen Best is a 2020 C/1B with a 5-10 193 lb. frame from Aurora, CO who attends Regis Jesuit. Medium frame with a solid, strong build. Primary catcher with a narrow, side set stance while setting up to receive. Gains some ground while smooth paced footwork. Loose, low exchanges while working through transition and released from a three-quarters arm slot. Topped at 71 miles per hour with a best workout pop time of 2.05. Also worked out defensively from first base. Clean glove actions while funneling the baseball with developing fluidity while working through transition. Flashed athletic footwork while pivoting to second base. Topped at 77 miles per hour producing on line carry to the bag. Left handed hitter with a spread, open stance and large leg lift trigger. Direct path to contact with a naturally leveraged barrel plane through extension. Swings flashed good fluidity throughout with solid jump to all fields. Consistently repeated barrel plane and drove the baseball with intent. Tools will continue to develop with maturity and repetition. Outstanding student.
