2016 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
Austin Wheeler is a 2015 3B/OF with a 6-0 186 lb. frame from Welland, ON who attends Centennial Secondary School. Medium frame, lean, athletic build. Right handed hitter with balanced stance and hanging leg lift trigger. Rotational lower half actions with good shift into contact. Compact hand path to contact with a line drive swing plane. Shows strength at contact when on time with intent to drive baseball to the gaps. Ball jumps of barrel when balanced and on time. Worked out defensively from the outfield showing athletic actions while close on baseball with smooth glove to hands exchanges. Extended arm swing at seperation with a three quarters arm slot at release. Rounds baseball well to each side creating good online direction to target. Tools will continue to develop with physcial maturity and fludity. Very good student as well.
