Curtis Lilienthal is a 2018 SS/RHP with a 6-3 170 lb. frame from Wilton, IA who attends Durant. Large frame with long limbs and a lean, athletic build. Frame projects to support additional size with strength. Primary shortstop with deliberate footwork while surrounding and working through the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling out front and working through exchange. Taps baseball while generating momentum to the bag, released from a three-quarters arm slot. Throws produced accurate on line carry across the infield topping at 77 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a spread, slightly open stance and high back elbow set. Stays balanced throughout with rotational lower half actions. Direct path to contact with a level plane through extension. Consistently worked to the middle of the field but flashed the ability to turn barrel and create bat speed to pull side. Also pitched showing a smooth, balanced side step delivery. Tall and balanced on back side at gather, works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Tends to land at a slightly closed position on front side producing some cross fire action at release. Released form a compact three-quarters slot that created good downward angle through the zone topping at 81 miles per hour. Curveball had 12/6 shape with good spin and solid depth when located down in the zone. Consistently worked to the bottom of the zone with both pitches when repeating arm action and release point. Tools will continue to develop with maturity and repetition.
