Johnny Castro is a 2018 3B/RHP, SS with a 6-3 183 lb. frame from Bronx, NY who attends Xavier. Large frame with long-limbed, lanky frame and excellent projection remaining. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.32 seconds. Sets up to hit from wide-based stance with high hands and a high back elbow set. Has quickness in hands, gets on plane early and fires, moderate stride forward, will drift onto front side at times, demonstrates ability to use the opposite field. Very loose, athletic actions in the infield, fields cleanly with flair, good actions to both sides, quality footwork overall, very good defender. Strong arm across, up to 85 MPH. Pitched as well, loose arm action, compact delivery with efficient movements, stands tall on backside and drives downhill. Throws from extended 3/4 arm slot, good riding life on fastball that worked 75-82 MPH, challenges in the strike zone and works ahead. CB shows solid shape with depth, good spin on the pitch, can miss bats. Named to 2016 Sunshine Northeast Showcase Top Prospect List. Very good student.
