Dennis (Duke) McCarron is a 2023 RHP/OF with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Ventnor, NJ who attends Ocean City. Medium athletic build with plenty of room to get stronger. Simple back turn delivery, gets into his lower half well, well timed rotation to his delivery, 3/4's arm slot. Fastball worked mostly in the 88-90 mph range, topped out at 92 mph early, gets big tailing action on his fastball at times, works low in the zone consistently with the pitch. Threw a slurve type breaking ball and commanded it well, can be more aggressive using his breaking ball to left handed hitters. Also threw a firm change up that had similar action as his fastball. Three pitch starter profile with the chance to improve with additional strength. Good student, verbal commitment to Maryland.
