Leandro Alvarez is a 2018 2B/SS with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Tampa, FL who attends Sickles HS. Medium frame with a lean build, long limbs, and room to add strength and size to the body. Primary second baseman with quick and solid footwork from the position. Pretty clean actions including smoothness to the backhand. Throws have some carry with a quick release. Maintained balance well and can be an impact defender with additional arm strength. Righthanded hitter with a small leg lift trigger into contact. Simple and direct path to contact with a repeatable swing. Lower hand set and turned well over the inside part of the plate. Line drive swing plane and flashed bat speed. Short and compact path with a contact-oriented approach offensively. Good student.
