Cooper Way is a 2018 C/OF with a 5-9 168 lb. frame from Glendora, CA who attends Charter Oak HS. Medium frame with a solid, athletic build. Projects for additional strength with continued physical maturity. Ran a 7.41 sixty yard dash. Primary catcher with a slightly high set while receiving. Gains ground to the bag while working out of crouch to a taller throwing position. Flashes hand quickness while working through transfer. Releases from an over top arm slot that generated accurate, on line carry to the bag. Topped at 71 mph with a best workout pop time of 2.02. Right handed hitter with spread, slightly crouch stance. Loose, extended path to contact with a naturally lifted swing plane through extension. Shows present strength with occasional bat speed through the zone. Primarily used an aggressive mid-field approach, but showed the ability to turn barrel to contact and produce loud contact to the pull side gap when squared. Very good student as well.
