2019 National Underclass East Showcase
Austin Tanner is a 2020 RHP/ with a 6-1 170 lb. frame from Windermere, FL who attends Windermere Prep. Medium frame with longer limbs and a lean build. Frame projects for additional strength. Primary right handed pitcher who worked exclusively from the stretch. Utilized a high leg lift and worked to the plate with drop and drive lower half actions. Lands in line with front side and works inline to the plate. Quick arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball producing running action to arm side in the upper 70's to low 80's, topped at 82 miles per hour. Primarily looked to attack the outer edge of the plate with fastball offering. Curveball had 10/5 shape with tighter spin and late depth in the low 70's. Maintains arm speed well with curveball offering. Also displayed a deceptive arm speed with a changeup offering that produced fade in the mid 60's. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing smooth, clean footwork while closing to the baseball. Maintains momentum to the bag while working through transition. Throws generated accurate, on line carry to the bag topping at 89 miles per hour. Very good student. Named to the 2019 National Underclass East Showcase, Top Prospect List.
