Matthew Bazemore is a 2018 1B/LHP with a 6-0 210 lb. frame from Georgetown, TX who attends Rouse HS. Large frame with broad shoulder and a strong build. Primary first baseman with aggressive footwork while closing to and centering the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling from a slightly deeper position. Smooth exchanges while working through transfer and released from a loose three-quarters slot. Throws generated softer, accurate carry across the infield. Left handed hitter with an upright, even stance and high back elbow set. Utilized a sweeping front side trigger and worked to contact with rotational lower half actions. Direct hand path to contact with an uphill barrel plane through extension. Primarily looked to work the ball to the middle of the field, but flashed the barrel control to work to all fields when on time. Also pitched showing a simple rock step to high leg lift delivery. Stays tall and balanced on back side at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Loose arm circle at take back and released fro ma mid three-quarters slot. Fastball showed some sinking action with occasional run to arm side, topped at 72 miles per hour. Tends to slow arm speed slightly with a curveball offering that had 1/7 shape with loose spin and occasional depth. Looked to challenge hitters down in the zone and induced weak contact when doing so. Outstanding student.
