Jackson Lapiner is a 2020 OF/RHP/IF with a 6-1 182 lb. frame from Sherman Oaks, CA who attends Calabasas HS. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and present strength to frame, additional room to fill moving forward. Primary outfielder, moves well to the ball and fields it out front, funnels into a full arm stroke through the back and works to a lower slot at release; can continue to implement additional lower half into release and mechanics, ball comes out cleanly and shows present strength and carry along with accuracy to intended base. Also pitched, worked exclusively out of the stretch; short and compact arm action on the mound with a cross body release, does a nice job of hiding the ball and creates angle at release. Fastball topped out at 84 mph with life down in zone and mixed nice curveball at 73 mph with sharp, downer life. Lefthanded hitter, begins with an open stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Occasionally shifts weight early and hits off front side; shows a short and compact path to the ball, keeps hands inside throughout. Shows quickness to hands and a handle for the barrel, contact oriented approach, projects with refinement to timing in approach. Good student.
