Carter Smith is a 2021 SS/2B, 3B, MIF with a 5-11 165 lb. frame from Ankeny, IA who attends Ankeny. Long, athletic build with a high waist and room to fill out. Ran a 7.16 second sixty-yard dash. Worked out defensively as a primary infielder. Displayed low, out front funnels with clean glove actions including a smooth backhand. Flashed quick footwork working to both sides of the infield with good range. Showed athletic actions working to and through the baseball as well. Flashed clean transfers into throws with good arm strength and accurate carry across the diamond topping out at 79 mph to first base. Right handed hitter. Employs an upright open stance with a little toe tap trigger. Displayed a level barrel plane to the baseball with a high intent approach creating good bat speed through the ball. Displayed the ability to create hard line drive and ground ball contact to the middle and pull fields consistently. Showed the ability to drive the ball to the pull side when on time and squared. Great student.
