Dylan Swanson is a 2019 LHP/OF with a 6-0 145 lb. frame from Woodland Hills, CA who attends El Camino Real HS. Medium frame with long limbs and wiry strength throughout. Projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.63 sixty yard dash. Primary left handed pitcher with a short rock step to leg kick delivery. Leans back at balanced point and gather well. Strides towards arm side edge of plane creating slight cross body arm action at release. Carries momentum toward to the plate well through extension. Releases from a compact, high three-quarters arm slot, creates good plane with fastball down in the zone, topped at 77 mph. Fastball comes out of hand cleanly with occasional life through the zone. Consistently filled the strike zone with fastball, flashed command to spot up on the edges when repeating release point. Curveball has good 1/7 shape with good sharp depth while maintaining arm speed. Flashed a straight changeup with a deceptive arm speed that matched fastball offering with occasional cutting action. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing extended, smooth paced actions while closing to the baseball and working through transition. Smooth arm action that produce accurate throws to the bag topping at 75 mph. Left handed hitter with an open stance and compact hand set. Shifts into contact well while hands launch on a level, line drive plane through extension. Handled the barrel well throughout the zone creating consistent line drive contact to the middle of the field. Shows occasional jump off the barrel when front side trigger was on time. Tools will continue to develop with physical maturity and repetition. Good student as well.
