TJ Parks is a 2020 C/RHP, 1B, 3B with a 6-1 240 lb. frame from White, GA who attends Cherokee. Large frame with broad shoulders and a solid build. Primary catcher with an even stance while receiving the baseball. Displayed soft hands and gains ground to the bag while working out of crouch. Efficient glove to hand exchanges and released from a compact arm action creating some on line carry to the bag at 71 miles per hour, best workout pop time of 2.14. Also worked out defensively from first base and the infield showing smooth paced, deliberate footwork while ranging for and surrounding the baseball. Displayed smooth, soft hands while funneling and worked through exchange quickly. Generated accurate, on line carry across the infield at release topping at 73 miles per hour from the infield and 75 miles per hour from first base. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and simple leg lift trigger. Stays on back side and works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Flashed some hand speed through the zone while employing a slightly lifted barrel plane through extension. Primarily looked to drive the ball between the gaps and flashed good carry to the pull side gap when squared. Also pitched using a side step to high leg lift delivery. Slight pause at gather and worked to the plate with tall and fall actions. Tends to land at an open position on front side and carries momentum to glove side. Compact arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Would change things up and work from the stretch as well with no runners on base, utilized the same leg lift and gather. Fastball showed slight downhill plane through the zone in the upper 60's to mid 70's. topped at 75 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with looser spin and occasional depth in the upper 50's. Showed developing feel for the zone and looked to challenge hitters with both pitches. Excellent student as well.
