Anthony Rendon is a 2019 C/3B with a 5-9 136 lb. frame from La Mirada, CA who attends La Serna. Compact frame with a lean build. Projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.47 sixty yard dash. Primary catcher with a low set and good hip flexion while setting up to receive. Gains some ground while working out of crouch with fundamental footwork. Works to a taller front side throwing position and releases from a compact three-quarters arm slot. Throws generated on line carry to the bag with accuracy topping at 71 miles per hour, best workout pop time of 2.06. Also worked out defensively form the infield and outfield. From the infield shows good footwork while ranging to and surrounding the baseball. Funnels baseball cleanly out front with smooth glove to hand exchanges while working through transition. Released from a high three-quarters slot creating accurate soft carry across the infield at 73 miles per hour. Rounds well with athletic footwork while closing to the baseball in the outfield. Clean glove actions while working through transition and generated good on line momentum to the bag. Keeps throws low from a high three-quarters arm slot that produced solid on line carry at 80 miles per hour to the bag. Right handed hitter with a slightly crouched, even stance and leg lift trigger. Lower half shows rotational actions to contact with occasional shift. Hands work to contact on a loose, extended path with a line drive plane. Flashed the ability to turn barrel at times and work to the pull side gap, shows best barrel plane and balance when working to the middle of the field. Tools will continue to develop with physical maturity and repetition. Outstanding student as well.
