Josh Pinello is a 2020 RHP/1B, 3B with a 6-2 175 lb. frame from Castle Rock, CO who attends Castle View. Tall, long frame with a lean build. Frame projects to support additional size with strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays tall and balanced on back side at gather and works to the plate with some front side swing. Gets back in line with front side and carries momentum to the plate well. Medium arm circle at separation and released from a compact three-quarters slot. Consistently filled the strike zone with developing feel for the edges with a fastball offering that topped at 75 miles per hour. Curveball had 10/4 shape with loose spin and occasional depth in the mid 60's. Maintains arm speed with curveball offering creating some deception at release. Will double up with curveball offering to keep hitters off balance. Also worked out defensively from the infield and first base showing deliberate footwork while rounding the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling and works through transfer with smooth exchanges. Primarily released from a compact three-quarters slot, but showed the ability to manipulate arm angle while throwing on the run. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and simple front side trigger. Loose, extended path to contact with a level swing plane through extension. Created some lift at contact when working to baseball out front. Primarily utilized a mid field approach with occasional jump of the barrel when squared. Tools will continue to develop with maturity and repetition. Good student as well.
