Jacob Blanchet is a 2018 SS/2B, 3B with a 6-1 165 lb. frame from Irvine, CA who attends Irvine. Medium frame with long limbs and a lean, athletic build. Frame projects to support additional size with strength. Primary shortstop with clean, sound footwork while traveling to and surrounding the baseball. Fluid glove actions while funneling and worked through exchange with smoothness. Flashed good range to each side and showed the ability to change arm angles while throwing across the infield, topping at 83 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and simple leg lift trigger. Simple, direct path to contact with an naturally leverage barrel plane through extension. Showed good feel and control of bat head and consistently generated sharp contact to the middle of the field and pull side gap. Very good student. Named to the 2017 California Uncommitted Showcase, Top Prospect List.
