Mason Ashcraft is a 2020 RHP/1B with a 6-4 200 lb. frame from Albuquerque New Mexico, NM who attends St. Pius X. Large frame with strong, long-limbed build; ran 60 yard dash in 7.44 seconds. Primary righthanded pitcher, stiffness to upper half-oriented delivery, compact arm stroke through the back to tight high three quarters slot release, creates plane to the plate, good balance to delivery, fastball worked 80-83 mph with effort at release. Showed curveball with 11/5 shape and big break, flashed sharpness. Hits from slightly open stance, bars hands slightly into load, shows solid leverage and bat speed through swing, has good strength at contact, can drive the ball when square, projects well for power. Worked out at 1st base, solid footwork to both sides with good bend, quick arm with quick release, clocked up to 77 mph across the diamond. Named to 2018 National Underclass West Top Prospect List, good student.
