Shawn Forlenza is a 2018 LHP/1B with a 6-1 165 lb. frame from Springvalley, NY who attends Ramapo. Large frame with long limbs and a lean, athletic build. Frame projects for additional size and strength. Ran a 6.96 sixty-yard dash. Primary left handed pitcher with side step to high leg lift delivery. Stays balanced at gather and utilizes lower half while driving to the plate. Tends to land at a slightly closed frond position generating some cross fire. Primarily released from a high three-quarters arm slot producing solid downhill angle through the zone with arm side run in the low to mid 70's, topped at 75 miles per hour. Changed speeds with a curveball and changeup. Curveball had some spin with occasional depth in the mid 60's. Change flashed occasional fade to arm side down in the zone. Consistently attacked the strike zone and showed good feel for the outside edge of the plate when replicating arm action and release point. Also worked out defensively from first base. Smooth, deliberate footwork while centering the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling from a deeper position with efficient exchanges through transition. Released from a loose three-quarters arm slot producing some carry with accuracy across the infield. Right handed hitter with a spread, even stance. Hands launch on an inside path to contact with an uphill plane through extension. Flashed some bat speed with strength at contact when working to the middle of the field and opposite field gap. Very good student.
