Yariel Diaz is a 2019 C with a 5-10 175 lb. frame from Lehigh Acres, FL who attends South Fort Myers High School. Medium, athletic frame with broad shoulders, mature build with present strength throughout. Ran a 7.58 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, higher set behind the plate, receives the ball out front, gains ground with lower half and can continue to refine footwork, short arm action and shows accuracy on throws to second base, repeats actions well, 2.10 best pop. Righthanded hitter, begins with a slightly open stance and does nice job of getting closed with weight shift. Utilizes a small leg lift trigger for timing, stays balanced through the zone and shows a lien drive swing plane. Works off a middle of the field approach, comfort in pulling the ball, shows hand speed with a full swing path, physical strength plays well when squared up.
