Ryan Vanderhei is a 2019 RHP/1B, 3B with a 6-4 173 lb. frame from Goodyear, AZ who attends Estrella Foothills. Large frame with long limbs and a lean build. Frame projects to support additional strength throughout. Primary right handed pitcher with a small side step to leg lift delivery. Stays tall on back side at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Lands in line with front side and finishes at a taller position with slight recoil. Long arm circle at separation and released from a high three-quarters arm slot. Created good downhill tilt with a fastball offering that sat in the upper 70's to low 80's, topped at 81 miles per hour. Showed a curveball offering in warm ups only creating solid spin with occasional depth. Flashed a changeup that had some sink with fade in the low 70's. Consistently filled the strike zone with a fastball offering and flashed developing feel for each edge of the plate. Produced weak, soft contact when staying down in the bottom quadrants of the zone. Right handed hitter with an upright, open stance. Shifts into contact with linear lower half actions. Loose, extended path to contact with some lift through extension. Primarily worked to the middle of the field with a line drive approach. Primarily works to contact out front and flashed some jump off the barrel when squared. Good student as well.
