Colin Denny is a 2019 C/RHP, 3B with a 5-10 165 lb. frame from San Marcos, CA who attends Heritage Christian. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build and wiry strength. Ran a 7.46 sixty-yard dash. Primary catcher with a low, narrow stance while receiving. Quick feet while working out of crouch and gained some ground towards the bag. Clean exchanges and arm circle at separation and released from a compact arm slot. Topped at 70 miles per hour with a best workout pop time of 2.01. Right handed hitter with a spread, even stance and high back elbow set. Creates some hand coil at load. Loose path to contact with a level, line drive plane through extension. Created some lift when connecting with baseball out front. Stayed balanced throughout while repeating path and plane with fluidity. Consistently produced line drive contact throughout batting practice utilizing a gap to gap approach. Also pitched showing a small rock step to medium leg lift delivery. Creates some coil over back leg at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Stays in line at landing and carries momentum through finish well. Medium arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball flashed some sink to the bottom of the zone in the low 70's, topped at 74 miles per hour. Had some success with working fastball in the upper and lower quadrants of the zone. Slider had 10/4 shape with softer spin and some tilt to glove side in the mid 60's. Consistently stayed down in the strike zone with off speed creating ground ball contact. Tools will continue to develop with physical maturity and repetition. Very good student as well.
