Jake Mitchell is a 2022 SS/RHP, 2B, 3B with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Riverside, CA who attends Martin Luther King. Medium build with plenty of room to fill out as he continues to develop. Primary infielder, moves well into the hole as well as up the middle. Clean glove work, smooth and efficient gather and transfer. Meticulous with his reads off the bat. Arm strength across the diamond will continue to develop. On the mound, has a shorter arm action from a high three-quarters slot. Small side step into a mid leg kick trigger. Solid strike thrower, fastball sits 80-84 mph. Mixes in an 11-to-5 shaped curveball with good depth to the plate. Also throws a 72 mph straight change that shows promise. At the plate, uses an open and upright stance with good hands that work through the middle of the diamond. Leg kick trigger, good pop when on time, flat barrel plane through the zone creates consistent line drive contact. Great student int he classroom as well.
