Derek Martinez is a 2024 C/1B, 3B with a 6-2 183 lb. frame from Groveland, FL who attends TNXL Academy. Medium to large frame with a slender frame showing broad shoulders and a high waist. Ran a 7.60 second sixty yard dash. Primary Catcher, low set as he proved to be athletic in the stance. Clean exchange on throw downs and released with urgency. Kept the arm swing short and released from the ear. Accurate around the bag as he recorded a pop time of 2.09 seconds. Secondary Third Baseman, sitting back on the baseball as he stays high in the stance working into it. Deep gather before working into transition and release. Accurate around the bag as he threw it 77 mph. Secondary Right-Handed Pitcher, works into a side-step to a higher lift. Stays compact before working down the hill. Medium arm circle to a higher slot release. Smooth arm stroke as he stays on line to target. Fastball up to 82 mph and mixed in a 12-to-6 breaking ball in upper-60's. Proved he could command both pitches in his arsenal. Right-Handed Hitter, even to start while balanced. Quiet hands before working into a small leg lift to stride. Stays inside the baseball as he stays linear. Proved to have some thump in the bat when he timed it up properly. Projects more power down the road as he fills out. Outstanding Student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
