Kolby Branch is a 2022 SS/2B/3B with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Lucas, TX who attends Lovejoy. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean build, room to fill throughout with some present strength. Ran a 6.70 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, fields the ball out front and shows soft, sure glove skills, moves well to the backhand and laterally with balance, compact arm action through the back with a higher slot on throws across the diamond, shows accuracy on throws and can throw accurately from multiple slots. Right-handed hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate, aggressive weight shift moving through lower half into backside. Rotational swing with a long stroke through the zone, shows some jump off of the barrel when squared, contact oriented approach with developing pop. Shows some quickness to hands and swings with intent, steep entry at start but separates well in swing. Excellent student. Verbal commitment to Baylor.
