Landon Graves is a 2023 OF/RHP with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Monroe, LA who attends Ouachita Christian HS. Landon is a solidly built, twitchy athlete who is obviously gaining strength which is allowing him to play at a more advanced level. As he continues to add physicality and work at his craft, expect another jump in his overall game. In addition to his emerging talent on the diamond, Landon is also a advanced scholar who shows a commendable dedication in the classroom. He ran a very impressive 6.97 60 yard dash. A primary outfielder, Landon's athleticism and baseball savvy become truly evident. He reads the ball off the bat well. He is quick to position and plays through the fielding action with gathering momentum. His soft hands allow for his glove to play at a high level. He transitions well to a powerful arm that gets his 87 mph throws off quickly. All his throws show a low and firm plane all the way to the target. His throws are routinely accurate. On the mound, Landon uses a short quick arm stroke and a high 3/4 slot, working down the slope consistently. His lower half mechanics are fairly conventional. His 78-81 mph fastball holds its plane and is thrown to both edges of the plate with consistency. His 11/5 shaped hybrid breaking ball shows decent depth late and is a sound compliment to his well-commanded FB. Landon has a pretty good feel for pitching and with continued work and some added girth, he should see a marked improvement over the next few years. At the plate, Landon starts with a wider, yet balanced base. He incorporates some negative load to help generate momentum with his lower half. He shows obvious quickness in his hands and gets the barrel to contact routinely. His path is more middle of the field oriented and when his timing is right, he can strike the ball. There is a lot to like about Landon's physical make-up and his emerging game. He has upside and an elite ability that has yet to be reached. Solid prospect.
